VODAFONE QATAR MAKES ONLINE SAFETY AND 5G TECHNOLOGY FUN FOR CHILDREN AT QITCOM 2019

Doha, Qatar, 31 October 2019: As part of its commitment to raise online safety awareness in the country, Vodafone Qatar organised its dynamic AmanTECH Digital Safety activities at the Digital Youth Festival (Tumuha Tec), that took place on the side-lines of the country’s biggest digital event, Qatar Information Technology Conference & Exhibition 2019 (QITCOM).

A series of augmented reality and virtual reality activities, actively involved youngsters in performing online tasks in an exciting and engaging way. The playful approach of the programme activities highlight how youth can be safe online by protecting their personal information, identifying a fake message or avatar, and preventing or responding to cyberbullying.

Vodafone’s AmanTECH programme was launched in May 2014 and stands for “safe tech world”, working to promote digital literacy amongst parents and improve the online safety of children aged 5 to 17. The programme continues to focus on raising awareness, and providing education and technical support through school workshops, an online source of information and a safety ‘checklist’ with tips for parents with children of all ages, in addition to a digital parenting guide available online.

During QITCOM, teachers, parents and children have also been lining up to experience Vodafone Qatar’s 5G demo, ‘5G Hologram VR ’, that explains 5G’s features- ultra-fast speed and low latency- in a playful manner.
