Vodafone Qatar Number Policy

Definitions

All relevant definitions in the Vodafone Terms and Conditions shall apply.

1. Introduction

Our customers’ focus on Numbers is fundamentally important to us and so is the proper administration and utilisation of such Numbers. Vodafone Numbers will only assign to Customers through My Vodafone App (MVA), Vodafone website online, through Vodafone’s authorised agents and our Retail stores (“Channels”). Below is Vodafone Qatar’s policy on the allocation of Numbers to our Customers.

2. Ownership of Numbers

All numbers are the property of the State of Qatar. The Communications Regulatory Authority (“CRA”) may, when necessary, make changes to the numbers allocated and assigned to Vodafone Qatar. We may need to withdraw or make changes to such numbers assigned to Customers in the event of any such action by the CRA. Assignment of a number entitles the Customer only to the use of the number. The ownership of the number remains with the State of Qatar under the administrative control of the CRA.

3. Free Numbers

Every Customer who joins Vodafone is entitled to a free number, which Vodafone Qatar will assign to the Customer with no charge.

4. Choosing a Number(s)

If the Customer does not want a free number on subscribing to Vodafone services, the Customers can request a specific number, if available, that is of importance to the Customer. This can include for example date of birth, car licence plate, name or surname of the Customer (My Number).

5. Star Numbers

These are rare and exclusive high-value numbers that are easy to remember. Every Customer has a choice to reserve any of the available Star Numbers. Numbers price starts from QR1500 till QR1,000.000 and have their specific T&C (see below).

6. How to reserve My Numbers and Star Numbers

Customers will be able to search for a Number or Star Number in the various Channels including on our website, www.vodafone.com.qa or in our Retail Stores. All Prepaid and Postpaid numbers booked through online reservation can be collected from the selected Vodafone Store within 5 working days from the date of the order.

If a customer gets a number with a plan, then the customer will pay only the difference between the star number price and their plan's included value. For e.g. the Unlimited VIP plan includes a free star number up to QAR 25,000. If the customer selects a number valued at QAR 35,000, they will only pay QAR 10,000 as the difference.

7. Use of Number

Any reserved number must be assigned to an active Vodafone Postpaid or Prepaid connection (“Service”). If the Customer cancels the connection, the number will be deactivated and made available for reservation after 180 days from the date of cancellation. A Customer can contact us on our call centre number 7700 7111 or 111 from a Vodafone Qatar mobile or visit one of our Retail Stores to reactivate the number within this 180-day period. Numbers are for personal use. Customers cannot sell numbers to anyone and if Vodafone Qatar gets to know about any sale of numbers, they may suspend such numbers and report the matter to the CRA.

8. Transfer of Numbers

As the use of numbers is tied to a price plan a number cannot be transferred to another Customer without the Service. When a customer decides to transfer a number to a third party, the Customer must visit one of our Retail Stores for further information on how to initiate such transfer. All outstanding amounts due on the account must be settled prior to the transfer of number taking place and any remaining balance on the account will be lost upon transfer. Vodafone will charge QR50 to affect the transfer of number (“TON”) request and on singing the TON form.

9. Refunds for Number reservations

Customers can return reserved numbers within 7 (seven) days after reservation. The Customer should inform us by calling our customer care number 7700 711 or 111 from a Vodafone mobile. We will offer the Customer a few of the same value and should the Customer still request a refund, we will process the refund for the paid Reservation Charge to within 7 (seven) days of return of the number. If the Customer does not want to reserve another My Number or Star Number, we will assign a Free Number to the Customer for the continued use of the pricing plan.

If the CRA decides to re-allocate numbers; re-assign numbers, or change the national number plan, We will offer the Customers with Star Numbers or My Numbers similar numbers to the one the Customer had originally reserved.

10. Changes to this Policy and Numbers

We will notify the Customers of any changes to this Policy and to any changes to Vodafone Qatar’s approach to Numbers, including if the CRA has decided to re-allocate Numbers, re-assign Numbers, or change the national number plan used in Qatar.

 
 

Star Number Terms and Conditions

 

1. There are different reservation charges for different Star Numbers. You can find out the reservation charge for the Star Number from our website at www.vodafone.qa or any of our retail stores.

2. The reservation charge you pay for a Star Number entitles you to use that number however all mobile numbers belong to the State of Qatar. The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) may withdraw, suspend or change numbers at any time. If this happens, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice.

3. On successful purchase, the Star Number must be assigned to an active Prepaid Plan or Postpaid Plan. If You cancel your Prepaid or Postpaid Plan or terminate your line after 180 days the Star Number will be made available for others to reserve. If your Star Number has value of more than QR 1500 you can claim this number back within the 180 days at no charge.

4. You can request for a refund of the Star number within seven (7) working days from the date of purchasing the Star Number in line with our Number Policy on our website ( www.vodafone.qa ) and at our stores.

5. If you transfer the Star Number you will not have any claim or right whatsoever on the Star Number going thereafter.

6. If you transfer the Star Number under another individuals name (belonging to the Donor) after he was ported out, then on repatriation of the number, the new owner of the number (last registered in Qatar ) can claim the Star Number provided they pay in full for the number, within 180 days of repatriation. The Original owner who ported out will not take the number as long as he is not the last registered in Qatar.

7. As per the approved Mobile Number Portability’s (“MNP”) Code of Conduct, all repatriated Vodafone Star Numbers which have been transferred back to Vodafone pool can only be claimed, for free, by the Original Vodafone Qatar customer within 180 days of repatriation and if the number is not transferred to another customer by the other service provider. Failing to claim within 180 days will mean that Vodafone can automatically re-use the number as required.

8. The minimum contract period for easy to remember numbers (“Star Number”) worth QR1500 to QR 19,999/- and above shall be one (1) year at the time of purchase and Star Numbers worth QR20,000 and above shall be two (2) years (“Agreed Lock-in Period”). Cancellation of the Service; transfer of number, downgrading to lower plans or migrating from Postpaid to Prepaid prior to that Agreed Lock-in Period will result in applicable charges due and payable in a pro-rated manner

9. Customer purchasing the numbers online confirm that they do not have more than five (5) numbers under their QID which is a requirement under local laws.

10. If Customer has more than five (5) numbers their payment will be refunded and they will not be entitled to the number(s).

11. If Customer buys more than one (1) number and can only have one (1) more number then the customer can within 5 days chose the one (1) number they want to keep and forfeit the others.

12. Numbers cannot be kept for unlimited period of time therefore, Customer must collect the number purchased online are within five (5) days after which the number(s) will be reassigned and the total amount paid will be refunded.

13. All refunds shall be made within 15 days without any further liability.

14. Customers who subscribe to post-paid plan and get a free star number valued at 20,000 Qatari Riyals or more will be limited to a maximum of three (3) star numbers per Qatari ID
