Vodafone Shares In The Spirit Of Ramadan
30 July, 2011: Vodafone Qatar will be sharing in the spirit of Ramadan with a variety of events and services that recognise the spiritual, charitable and family aspects of this holy month.
Ramadan is a time to help those in need. That's why Vodafone has joined hands with Qatar Charity to provide free Iftar for 1,100 less fortunate people daily throughout Ramadan.
Vodafone Iftar boxes
In the giving spirit of Ramadan, Vodafone Qatar will be distributing Iftar boxes containing dates and water to motorists and passers-by, to help them break their fast.
Vodafone Qatar in association with iLoveQatar.net have partnered to provide a one of a kind website dedicated to all things Ramadan at http://www.ramadan-kareem.net/. In addition to a fantastic calendar of events and the ability to send Ramadan greeting cards, http://www.ramadan-kareem.net/ provides premium paid and free Islamic content including that from Islamic scholar Sheikh Mashari Bin Rashed Al Affasi.
Vodafone will offer free daily prayer time information via SMS. Customers can choose to receive the notifications in either Arabic or English. All they need to do is send and SMS with the word "ARABIC" or "ENGLISH" to the short code 97220
Prayer times can also be on hand with Vodafone's pocket-sized Ramadan calendars which can be picked up at a Vodafone store or partner outlet. Prayer times can also be found online at http://www.ramadan-kareem.net/ or for free on customer mobiles at m.ramadan-kareem.net.
Community Football Tournament
Ramadan is also about connecting with the community so Vodafone has sponsored a community based football league made up of 8 teams of young Qatari and Arab men who will battle it out daily after Iftar at Al Gharafa Sports Club.
Stay in touch with family and friends
Vodafone has made it easier to stay in touch with family and friends during this special time with great local and international calling. These include the current promotions running through to 31 August on Vodafone's International calling card 25 and World Calling Club that make calling loved ones abroad easy with rates as low as 49 Dirhams per minute.
"The Vodafone team would like to wish everyone a blessed Ramadan. This is a special time for people in Qatar and millions of people around the world, and we hope that our services and activities will make it that extra special for many people," said John Tombleson, Acting CEO, Vodafone Qatar.
Vodafone will be announcing other promotions and exciting new services during Ramadan so stay tuned!
