Vodafone Qatar Selects 10 Summer Interns
26 June 2010: As part of its commitment to being a centre for talent development, Vodafone Qatar has selected 10 top of their class students as part of its 3rd 'award winning' Internship Programme.
After conducting more than 100 interviews, the 10 chosen students were selected from Qatar University, Carnegie Mellon-Qatar, Texas A & M, Northwestern University and Georgetown University, The students were selected based on their qualifications for the set Vodafone projects and their potential for development .
To introduce them to the exciting world of Vodafone, the interns attended a two day 'Jump in' session where they were introduced to Vodafone's company values, the importance of the Vodafone brand and what Vodafone is doing to contribute to Qatar's 2030 vision.
The summer long internship will see the interns interacting with the employees and handling projects on their own with guidance from their Team Leaders and Mentors. The projects belong to the Information Technology, Human Resources, Marketing, Retail, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.
At the end of the project, all the interns as a team will prepare a presentation to be presented to Vodafone's Executive Team Members, including Vodafone's CEO Grahame Maher.
"Giving students the opportunity to learn vital work skills is very important to Vodafone Qatar not only because of our commitment to being a centre for talent development but also to contribute to the development of Qatar's Human Capital as part of His Highness the Emir's Qatar 2030 vision," said Amro Rashad, Head of Resourcing and Learning, Vodafone Qatar.
Vodafone Qatar launched its first Internship Programme in June 2009 and was granted the "SHUKRAN" excellence award by Texas A & M University in Qatar for the most innovative internship program.
