Vodafone Qatar Launches Its First Employee Volunteering Scheme
26 June 2011: As part of "Better World", Vodafone Qatar's corporate social responsibility programme, Vodafone has launched a corporate volunteering scheme which allows its employees to take two days paid leave every year to participate in volunteering activities.
According to Vodafone, volunteering has several benefits, as it is good for the community, good for those who volunteer and good for the company itself. Unlike financial donations and in-kind support, the Vodafone Employee Volunteering Scheme will allow the company to foster a more personal link to the community by sharing its human resources with organisations in need.
"Vodafone Qatar's employees are talented, energetic, skilled and are sure to make a big difference in the community by not only donating their time, but also their skills and expertise", said Luisa Gentile, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Vodafone Qatar.
"It is a win-win situation where we can provide charities with skilled volunteering help, while our employees can develop and practice their leadership skills," continued Luisa Gentile.
Vodafone announced that it will be inviting charities and NGOs to approach them with this new mindset and ask for skilled volunteers instead of monetary donation. Vodafone will continue donating their employees' time, advice, and services as a way to respond to the community's needs in an innovative, sustainable and creative way.
