Vodafone Public Park Design Unveiled

20 April, 2010: On the premises of the Knowledge Enrichment Centre, Vodafone Qatar and the Doha Municipality unveiled the Vodafone design for the new playground at the Doha Cornciche public park for every family in Qatar to get together with their loved ones.  The MOU to build the park was signed by Mr. John Tombleson, Vodafone Qatar Acting CEO and Eng Mohammed Al Sayed, Director of the Doha Municipality. 

Vodafone raised more than QR 2.5 million towards building the park.  The money was raised as part of Vodafone's fantastic "Get Together" local calling promotion that launched during the holy month of Ramadan last year and ran until 31 March 2011.During the promotion,  Vodafone put 1 Dirham towards funding the building of a public park for every local call a customer made,.

The park playground located next to the Sheraton Hotel will be built this year by SSK Enterprises in adherence to American and UK safety standards making it a safe experience for all children. The playground will feature the newest and most innovative equipment in the world and has also been designed for wheelchair accessibility and support. 

"We are thrilled that more than QR 2.5 million has been raised towards building the first Vodafone public park. Our commitment to building the park is very much in line with our purpose of "Making a World of Difference for ALL the People in Qatar. Our customers were part of making this happen through every local call that they made," said John Tombleson, Acting CEO, Vodafone Qatar.

"This park will be a great place in Qatar for everyone to ‘Get Together' with their family and friends and we wish to thank Doha Municipality for all their support and collaboration to bring this project to life," continued John Tombleson. 

"Today's MOU signed by Vodafone and the Doha Municipality is in line with Doha Municipality's strategy and plans to interact and connect with the public.  The Municipality is committed to serving the public and companies in Qatar can play a big role in this," said Eng Mohammed Al Sayed, Director of the Doha Municipality. 

" The Doha Municipality welcomes Vodafone's plans to develop and build the new children's playground in the Corniche public park, and we hope this will set an example to other companies in how they can serve the public and develop the society for the general good. We'd like to thank Vodafone for their role in serving the public," continued Eng Mohammed Al Sayed.
