Vodafone Further Enhances Network Capacity And Quality To Meet Extra Demand
16 January 2011: Vodafone Qatar continues to enhance its network capacity and quality to deal with the rapid growth in customer numbers and calling volumes in busy areas.
In the past few months, Vodafone's commitment to continually improve the customer experience has led to the installation of new outdoor sites in Ras Laffan Industrial City (Nakhilat Dry Dock), New Doha International Airport, West Bay and Faisalya Compound (Al Rayyan). Two new temporary outdoor sites have also been deployed in Doha Industrial Area (Street 35 and Streets 46/47) to improve capacity in high traffic areas.
Vodafone Qatar continues to innovate and bring new technologies to the region and is the first in the GCC to deploy the innovative 3G UMTS 900 technology. To date, Vodafone has 409 outdoor sites, many of which are 3G UMTS 900 enabled to give customers unmatched 3G indoor and remote area coverage.
In addition to new outdoor sites, Vodafone Qatar has new In-Building Solutions ‘On Air' located in The Museum of Islamic Art, Georgetown University, the Student Centre in Education City, Gulf Tower, Qatar Petroleum Headquarters in Dukhan, Four Seasons Hotel, Royal Plaza Mall and Sarah Towers.
Vodafone Qatar now has a total of 83 In-Building Solutions in key locations across Qatar, all of which are 2G and 3G enabled.

Working in partnership Alcatel-Lucent, Vodafone Qatar is constantly enhancing both network quality and customer experience. With 50 new sites deployed in 2010, the extended and strengthened Vodafone Qatar mobile infrastructure has coped easily with this year's 35% increase in voice traffic and the 400% increase in data usage.
