Vodafone Celebrates Cricket With Great International Calling Rates
24 January 2010: Vodafone Qatar will offer reduced rates on international calling to India and Bangladesh in honour of the upcoming cricket test match between these two countries, the mobile operator announced today.
"We know that many of our customers from India and Bangladesh love cricket," said Grahame Maher, CEO of Vodafone Qatar. "And as you can probably tell from the establishment of our very own cricket team, we share that love!"
From 24 January to 28 January 2010 the rate for international calls to India and Bangladesh will drop to QR 0.44 per minute down from the current promotional rate of QR 0.50, which is valid for all countries across the globe until 14 February 2010.
"We've brought our customers great value and a great experience," said Vodafone CMO Michael Portz. "Now we like to show our love for our customers by sharing in what our customers love."
Vodafone has offered a series of international calling promotions over the past year that have met with widespread success in Qatar, with customers making over 70 million minutes in international calling in a single month last November. In an unanticipated move, Vodafone began 2010 with a re-introduction of its first international calling promotion, which offers international calling for the same price as a local call.
Daring promotions and an innovative approach will become par for the course for Vodafone in 2010, the mobile operator asserts. "Vodafone introduced a great innovation last year when we sent each customer an individual message informing them of their rates to the countries they call most," adds Product Manager Mike Button. "Now we've taken that a step further by offering special rates for when they want them the most."
