Appathon

In partnership with QITCOM, Indie Fikra: Appathon 2012 brought together mobile app developer talent from all over Qatar to compete for over QR 50,000 in prizes and inclusion in ictQATAR’s coveted incubation program Dajtala!

In Indie Fikra: Appathon 2012, teams raced against the clock to code and create a working demo for a new mobile app in one of the following categories:

  • Apps in Arabic
  • Apps for Women
  • Apps for Mobile Games
  • Apps for Al Sadd Fan Club

Teams convened at the Qatar National Convention Center at noon on Monday 5 March and they had only 48 hours to create their entries. After a gruelling two days, the teams presented their demos to a panel of judges who rated the apps based on the following criteria: if the app was created in Arabic, the creativity of the app, the functionality of the app and the overall potential for the app to be successful.

The judges had a tough job on their hands as the entrepreneurial spirit of the appathon participants was high and the quality of the work submitted was outstanding. After difficult deliberation, the Top 4 Apps from Indie Fikra: Appathon 2012 were selected.
