Q. How do I get the BlackBerry® Add On?- A: SMS ‘BB’ to 97228 to get the monthly service or SMS ‘BBW’ to 97228 to get the weekly service. Your BlackBerry® Add On will be activated within 24 hours and you will be charged your monthly or weekly fee. Once the setup is complete you will receive an SMS notification from us.
Q. How do I set up my email account on the device- A: To set up an email account on your device with an already existing email account.
1. Open the main screen by pressing the BlackBerry® key ().
2. Select the icon ‘Setup’ () and press the pearl/trackpad.
3. On the next screen select ‘Email Settings’ and press the pearl/trackpad once again.
4. Please read the displayed Terms and Conditions carefully and then select ‘Yes’ to confirm that you agree with them.
5. Now you can add a new email account to your device. Select the provider you have your email account with (e.g. Hotmail) then enter your email address and the password you would normally use on the web.
6. You’ll then receive a message to let you know your account has been successfully set up.
To add another email address, just repeat the above steps. Remember,: you can add up to 10 email accounts on a BlackBerry® smartphone.
Q. Can I connect my BlackBerry® smartphone to a PC and use it as a modem?- A: Yes, you can. If you want to use your BlackBerry® smartphone as a modem you should use a BlackBerry® smartphone with 3G capabilities (e.g. BlackBerry® BoldTM 9000 smartphone).
Please be aware that the traffic that is generated while using your BlackBerry as a modem is not coming out of your included data allowance of 1GB /250MB. You should choose a Vodafone Broadband Plan to cover your surfing. When you connect to your PC and browse the internet without a Mobile Broadband Plan, you'll be charged at our standard data rate.
Q. How can I control my costs when roaming with my BlackBerry® smartphone?- A: Your BlackBerry® smartphone will connect to the network and automatically transmit data. If you want to control your usage while you are roaming you can simply disable data connections while abroad.:
1. Go to 'Manage Connections' on your BlackBerry® smartphone
2. Select 'Mobile Network Options'
3. Change the value of 'Data Services' to 'Off When Roaming'
4. Save the settings
Now your BlackBerry® smartphone will not connect to data services while you are roaming. You will still be able to receive and make calls and send SMS. When you are back in Qatar the device will automatically transmit data again.
