1. Information on how to apply for the World of Difference programme form part of these Terms and Conditions. Submission of an application is deemed to be acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

2. Applicants must be aged 18 years or over, be a resident of the State of Qatar and have a clean criminal record. Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English, or Arabic (or both).

3. The application process commences on 21 September 2011 and closes at midnight on 22 October 2011. Only one application is permitted per Applicant. Each application will be individually judged according to its humanitarian and charitable merit and practicability of implementation as determined by Vodafone in its sole discretion.

4. Applicants must complete the required application form (found at www.vodafone.com.qa).

5. In submitting an application, Applicants must come up with a 12 month project aimed at helping a specific group of people in Qatar or based on an environmental or wildlife concern in Qatar. The project must have an overall humanitarian and charitable aspect (not a commercial purpose) and must take place in the State of Qatar.

6. Applicants can elect to either:

  • a. implement their proposed project through the support of an existing charity or charitable organisation (including not-for profit associations or Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) based in Qatar ("Supervising Charity"). In this case, they will have to seek for the Supervising Charity approval before submitting the proposal; or
  • b. implement the project individually ("Individual Project").

7. Applicants selecting option 6(a) above - that decide to work with a Supervising Charity - are responsible for liaising with the chosen Supervising Charity to obtain any necessary consents or permissions for the proposed project before filing an application. Applicants may only select one Supervising Charity and may only nominate one project in relation to that Supervising Charity.

8. Once submitted, applications cannot be altered nor can the Supervising Charity be changed.

9. Applicants must have valid sponsorship in Qatar until at least 12 months from the start date of their proposed project to apply under these Terms and Conditions. If relevant, Applicants are responsible for obtaining a work permit, a valid passport and any qualifications necessary to perform their proposed project.

10. In applying under these Terms and Conditions, Applicants agree to provide Vodafone with accurate details of their sponsorship arrangements in Qatar.

11. Applicants with current sponsorship in Qatar must inform their existing employer or sponsor of their application prior to applying. Applicants may be required to submit a Non-Objection letter from their current employer and/or sponsor consenting to their involvement in the World of Difference programme.

12. By submitting an application under these terms and conditions, Applicants agree that they are complying with all laws and regulations and with their personal sponsorship obligations and agree to indemnify Vodafone and any Supervising Charity against any claims, loss or damage if this is not the case.

13. Selection as a World of Difference Recipient under these Terms and Conditions will not result in any liability or obligation on the part of Vodafone or any Supervising Charity in relation to the sponsorship of any World of Difference Recipient.

Selection of Short-List and Winners

14. Vodafone will appoint a selection panel to review all valid applications received under these Terms and Conditions (the "Selection Panel"). The Selection Panel will, at its sole discretion, select a short list of Applicants from all valid applications received. The short listed Applicants may be required to participate in a face to face interview with a nominated member of the Selection Panel. If a participant is unable to be notified, does not confirm their intention to participate, or does not attend the interview on the date specified, then the opportunity is forfeited and an alternative Applicant will be selected.

15. Short listed Applicants will be required to accept further specific terms and conditions, as set out by Vodafone and/or their Supervising Charity, as applicable, in order to progress in the World of Difference selection process. Any such terms and conditions will be notified to short listed Applicants following their selection.

16. From the short listed applicants, Vodafone will, in its sole discretion, select up to four winners who will be notified in due course.

17. Over the course of the World of Difference programme Vodafone will grant a set amount of funds towards the winner's chosen World of Difference project – either by making payments directly to the Supervising Charity in question, or to the Individual Project, as applicable. Payment details will be specified in writing by Vodafone following the winner's selection.

Social media will form a central part of the winner’s year-long journey and winners must be prepared to participate in these mediums.

20. Vodafone has the right to use any Application, updates and reports (including written, audio and visual forms) and any photos or personal details and other publicity materials at its absolute discretion for promotional purposes, and by submitting an entry, each Applicant unconditionally and irrevocably assigns all copyright and other intellectual property in any material provided under these Terms and Conditions to Vodafone.
