Joining Vodafone Qatar is a bit like a homecoming for John. Born in Bahrain and raised in Oman, the gulf region is familiar territory. Despite Qatar being still uniquely different, you can spot the cultural commonalities.

After university, John joined Vodafone Egypt, where he worked in several roles within Marketing before heading off to the Maldives as a marketing consultant for the launch of the second operator there, Wataniya. A successful launch and setup behind him, John decided to go back to Vodafone Egypt where he led the brand strategy in Egypt during the evolution of the global brand in 2005.

Before the launch of the third operator in Egypt he led the prepaid and then consumer areas during a very difficult period defending the growth of the third player. John and his team then formed and executed a two-year plan that helped the organization inject value in the market while retaining Vodafone’s premium position, moving Vodafone to the Number 1 position in every important measure.

As CMO, John’s role is to get everyone in Qatar to love Vodafone and to build relationships that deliver maximum value to shareholders. It’s really all about the small things; a million grains of salt adds up to make a tremendous difference.

Outside of work, John’s passion is cars. While the cameras on the streets and highways of Qatar keep him from acting on his “need for speed”, you’ll be able to find John spending some quality time at Losail Motor Speedway during track nights!

John’s favourite quote is “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” So keep an eye on Vodafone as he and the marketing team continue to bring innovation to the market and deliver on the promise of great value for customers and shareholders alike in Qatar.
