Al Johara Program
About the Program
Our Al Johara Program gives Qatari women the chance to learn entrepreneurial skills and earn a living by selling Vodafone products and services to their friends, families and communities. However, the program is not just a commercial move; it also helps to connect people who would otherwise be difficult to reach because of the traditional role of women in Qatari society. It has also created a community where women can access and share technology as well as socialise. The pilot project began in 2010 with women who had never worked before and who came from traditional Qatari families. Becoming involved in the program has been a significant step for them as they have gained independence and prosperity, both socially as well as educationally.

Social Events and Volunteering
Our Al Johara team also enjoy a lot of social events and volunteering outings together.
They recently visited “Malik bin Anas Model Independent School for Boys” where they talked to students about technological development and the role of information and communication technology in our daily lives.
The team also celebrated last year’s National Day. In co-operation with the Qatar Foundation they organized lots of fun activities for elderly people, e.g. singing, traditional dancing, and playing games.
Moreover, last year they volunteered with the “100 Dreimah- Qatar Orphan Foundation” to give kids a fun day out at Villaggio’s Gondolania, an area dedicated to arcade games and attractions. They ran a series of entertaining competitions and games, and gave away loads of fantastic prizes to participants. In recognition of this engagement, the team was even recognized by Vodafone Qatar’s CEO, who invited them to present their project to the rest of Vodafone Qatar’s employees.
Al Johara Success Stories
Fatima Al Kuwari
Fatima Al Kuwari has been working with Vodafone for almost five years and this exposure has helped her to become an independent woman. She decided to complete her University degree in Business Administration which, in turn, helped her to improve her quality of work and helped her to obtain a more senior position within the organization. Fatima has a large numbers of Qatari customers and is very confident in her selling skills. She is very passionate about her work and engages with many charity organizations to help families in need.
Before she started with Vodafone, Safiya was a typical housewife with no relations outside her home. She was naturally a very shy person; however, working with Vodafone has improved the quality of her life and her financial status. She supported her husband in buying a new house for themselves and helped her son to buy a new car. Safiya is one of our top sellers and is an excellent team player.
Noora Al Hawal
Noora Al Hawal started with Vodafone Qatar in July 2014. Sadly, one week before her joining date her husband died. She was left with multiple responsibilities and the burden of supporting all her children by herself. However, this did not stop her from working with Vodafone. She is a very passionate and motivated individual and is looking to build a strong relationship with her community in order to sell Vodafone products and services. This exposure has helped her to become financially independent.
